For Kliks to be able to automatically record your trips (note, this setting can be disabled), there are two settings that must be set correctly:

  1. Location Access (must be set to always / allow)
  2. Battery Optimization (must be set to off)

Also, ensure you do not have an app tracking / location services blocker application installed (e.g., DuckDuckGo). These apps can be configured to block Kliks from accessing your device's location services. If so, Kliks will not be able to auto-detect and record your trips.

Location Access

Kliks needs access to your device's location in order to detect your location as well as when you start / stop driving. If this setting is disabled / off, the Kliks app will not be able to automatically record your trips.

  1. Location Access = Allow, and choose the Precise Location option (do not select the Approximate option)
  2. High Performance = On
  3. Allow Background Data Usage = On

* Note, depending on which Android device and software version you have, #2 and #3 may not be visible in Android > Settings.

Battery Optimization

The Battery Optimization setting needs to be disabled/off so the Kliks app can automatically detect when you start / stop driving.

When you first open the Kliks app after it has been installed (or reinstalled), Kliks will ask you to "stop optimizing battery usage." You must select "Yes" or "Allow" (the option depends on which Android operation system version you are using).

For example, on a Samsung J7 mobile device (Android v7.1.1) you the option is 'Yes" to stop optimizing battery usage. On a Samsung S7 mobile device (Android v8.0), the option is "Allow" to Stop optimizing battery usage.
