For Kliks to automatically record your trips, two settings must be configured correctly (note, auto trip recording can also be disabled on the home screen and trips screen):
- Location Access: Must be set to "Always / Allow."
- Battery Optimization: Must be turned off.
Additionally, ensure that no app or location services blocker (e.g., DuckDuckGo) is preventing Kliks from accessing your device's location services, as this will stop Kliks from auto-detecting and recording trips.
Location Access
Kliks needs access to your device’s location to detect your starting and stopping points. If this setting is off, Kliks won’t be able to record your trips automatically. Please ensure the following:
- Location Access: Set to "Allow," and select "Precise Location" (avoid selecting "Approximate").
- High Performance Mode: Set to "On."
- Allow Background Data Usage: Set to "On."
Note: Depending on your Android device and software version, options #2 and #3 may not appear under Android > Settings.

Battery Optimization
To allow the Kliks app to automatically detect when you start and stop driving, the Battery Optimization setting must be turned off.
When you open the Kliks app for the first time after installation (or reinstallation), Kliks will prompt you to "stop optimizing battery usage." You’ll need to select "Yes" or "Allow," depending on your Android OS version.
For example:
- On a Samsung J7 (Android v7.1.1), the option will be "Yes" to stop optimizing battery usage.
- On a Samsung S7 (Android v8.0), the option will be "Allow."
